August 3, 2014

VBS is scheduled for August 4-8, 5:45-8:15 pm.  It will be a fun summer adventure for our elementary age kids.  If you haven’t yet registered your child(ren), be sure to do so outside the nursery today.  If you have collected VBS supplies, please deposit them in the bin provided outside the nursery desk.

We are gearing up for The Story journey, which we will begin together in September.  You can begin purchasing your books now at the table in the lobby.  There are books for adults, students, kids (8-12), children(5-7) and little ones (0-4).  It is recommended that adults, students and kids each have their own book.  The Story for Children and The Story for Little Ones are intended to be read to the younger ones, so one book per family is sufficient.  Remember, adults and students have the option of purchasing the ebook of their version of The Story through or  Get Ready!

All Westwood Small Groups will embark on The Story journey together for 31-weeks (September-November and January-May, with a break in December).  All Small Group leaders are asked to stay after service on Sunday, August 3rd, for guidelines, instructions and resource information for these studies.  Anyone who is currently, or has in the past been a small group leader is asked to stay for this brief meeting.  If you are interested in offering a new group, you are encouraged to come as well.  We are anticipating your enthusiastic participation!

Make plans now to stay following the service on Sunday, August 10th, for our Back-to-School MUNCH.   Details about the activities and the menu (including what each family should bring) will be available next week.

The RED Leadership Team is planning events for students throughout the summer.  Parents of students, please note the following dates for the month of July and early August:

Aug 9 RED Serves at Seminole Ridge Apts

For details, please contact Pastor Jeff, Chip David, Nathaniel Cline or Cassie Largaespada.

Will you help restock the Food Pantry?  Please note the specific need for:  soup, canned pasta meals (i.e. Chef Boyardee), canned meat, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, healthy snacks (cheese/peanut butter crackers, granola bars, etc.)  Please place your donated items in the shopping basket in the hallway outside the offices, and thank you for taking this opportunity to be The Church for those in our community who are in need!
