STUDENT MINISTRY DIRECTORWe have extended a call to Tyson Simon to be our Student Ministry Director, and he has accepted. Details will be forthcoming regarding Tyson, Abby and Ava’s move to Orlando. In the meantime, please be praying for a smooth transition and for affordable housing for the Simons in our area.
CHURCH-WIDE WORK DAYOur facility is in desperate need of some tender loving care – cleaning, organizing, rearranging, etc. We can use everyone’s help! Please mark your calendar for Saturday, September 30, and join us between 8:30 am and 12:30 pm. Continental breakfast served at 8 am; lunch served when we finish working at 12:30.
We will work on three teams – Inside (backstage, sanctuary, classrooms, lobby); Lawn (trimming trees, hedges & bushes, weeding); PODs (cleaning, organizing). Please sign up to work on one of these teams, and bring with you whatever tools and equipment you may have that will help facilitate the work.
GOOD NEWS CLUBGood News Club started for the new school year this past Friday. There were more than 50 kids enrolled in advance. Our team was well-prepared, and things went very well. Several students were asking for Bibles, four young boys came out to counsel after the Bible lesson because they “wanted to know more about God,” and a 4th grade girl committed her life to Christ. What a great start! Keep praying for what God is doing, and how we can join Him in the lives of these students!
CHOIRWe are preparing again for the choir to lead us in worship on October 29th. (Remember, this is an every-fifth-Sunday occurrence.) If you would like to be part of the choir – whether you have sung with us in the past or not – please contact Jaime Largaespada at firstname.lastname@example.org. She will make sure you have everything you need to prepare and practice in advance.
DISTRICT WOMEN’S RETREATDistrict Women’s Retreat is coming up soon – the weekend of October 13-15. We have about 20 women registered to attend from Westwood. We would like to have an organizational/informational meeting for everyone who is registered to go on Sunday, October 8th. We will meet immediately following service and have lunch together while we talk about details.
Also, we will need to use about $500 in scholarship funds for the weekend. If you are able to help offset that cost, please note on your offering envelope that you are designating funds for “Women’s Retreat.”
